About an hour later a blast was heard on a subway car as it moved away from the Maelbeek metro station in the heart of Brussels, just steps away from the European Union headquarters. According to the Belgian Health Minister, at least 11 persons have been confirmed dead in the airport blast. The Brussels mayor has also said that at least 20 persons died in the subway station attack leaving many injured. Death tolls are expected to increase.

Later in the day, Belgian police released an image that shows three men who are considered suspected attackers. One of the three is still being searches for. Further investigation revealed an ISIS flag, bomb making materials, chemicals and nails at a house in Brussels.
It is believed that yesterday's attacks follow last week's arrest of Salah Abdeslam, world's most wanted man who is a key suspect in the November attacks in Paris. Brussels airport remains shut through out today but subways and buses are now functioning.
