A trailblazer she was. She's the brain behind the London Olympic Aquatic Centre, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London, Riverside Museum at Glasgow's Museum of Transport and Guangzhou Opera House in China. She died
following a heart attack that happened earlier today in a hospital in Miami where she was being treated for bronchitis. She's aged 65.
She studied maths at the American University of Beirut, though she was born in Bagdad. While Beirut, she designed a building on campus which was only completed in 2014 and in 1979 she set up her own Architectural company called Zaha Hadid Architects. Her first major commissioned construction was the Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein in Germany. She is the first woman to win the Pritzker Price and twice won the Riba Stirling Prize. She was the first woman to ever receive a Riba Gold Medal.
She undoubtedly was renowned for her theoretical works of architecture and her buildings will forever echo her presence. See more pics of her and her works after the cut
