WHO has confirmed the beginning of the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia again two days after the public health arm declared that Ebola was no longer a public health emergency of international concern. This recent outbreak was
identified after a 30 year woman died on Thursday in Monronvia, the Country's capital. This is very ironic as the incident occurred just two days after WHO declared that the Ebola menace was over.
According to buzzfeed, WHO's Emergency Committee for Int' Health Regulations had gathered on March 29 and the director general had observed that Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Guinea had met the criteria required to confirm the end of Ebola transmissions in these areas thus the virus should no longer be considered to be an international concern. Following this recent development, the committee has said that countries that were previously affected ''must maintain the capacity and readiness to prevent, detect and respond to any ongoing and/or new clusters in future.''
